The Kindle sale: My picks

Just an ultra-quick post to highlight some of the 'gems' in the 12 Days of Kindle sale (because I thought I'd better get this done before the sale actually ends). I know loads of people got Kindles for Christmas so if you're looking for cheap ebooks, here are some ideas. I will update this post if anything amazing gets added to the sale within the next few days!

Books I have actually read
Hawthorn & Child by Keith Ridgway - £1.49: If there is one book you buy in the sale, BUY THIS!
The House at Midnight by Lucie Whitehouse - £1.09: ...OR THIS. One of my favourite books, absolutely unputdownable
Company of Liars by Karen Maitland - 99p: For historical fiction fans, a medieval mystery with great characters
The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey - £1.49: Lovely, magical, fairytale-like story, perfect for winter
Isabel's Skin by Peter Benson - £1.39: Unusual spooky mystery for those who enjoy gothic fiction
Snowdrops by A.D. Miller - 99p: Yes, okay, I didn't actually like this at all, but lots of others loved it and it was shortlisted for the Booker, so you might want to give it a go anyway if you like the sound of the themes!
Kommandant's Girl by Pam Jenoff - 99p: Slightly corny but enjoyable WWII spy story slash romance
Cold Earth by Sarah Moss - 99p: Intriguing debut about a group who become stranded in Greenland during a global pandemic
Bridget Jones's Diary by Helen Fielding - 99p: Look, I don't care what anyone thinks, this is hilarious and if you haven't read it you should
Jon Ronson's Adventures with Extraordinary People - £1.89: Good value compilation of three books, and Ronson's writing is always entertaining

Also, I don't actually think this is in the sale but I just noticed it is SEVENTY-FOUR PENCE - The Earthquake Bird by Susanna Jones. Not as good as 2012's superb When Nights Were Cold, but it's an excellent introduction to an author I love and is absolutely definitely worth that price.

Books already on my to-read (or may-read) list
Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn - £1.49
The Rehearsal by Eleanor Catton - 99p
The White Lie by Andrea Gillies - £1.29
The Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh - 99p
Prophecy by S.J. Parris - £1.99
The Sisters Brothers by Patrick deWitt - 99p

Books not on my to-read list, but they look pretty interesting
Tom-All-Alone's by Lynn Shepherd - 99p
The Last Hundred Days by Patrick McGuinness - £1.09
Monsieur by Emma Becker - 99p
A Room Full of Bones by Elly Griffiths - 99p
A Cupboard Full of Coats by Yvvette Edwards - 99p
The House by the Sea by Santa Montefiore - £1.99

And, if you fancy some trashy celebrity stuff...
Living Life the Essex Way: TOWIE & Me by Sam Faiers - £1.99
Boulle's Jewels by Francis Boulle - £1.19
(I am horribly tempted to buy both of the above, btw...)
